Orchestrate your Wedding with Wind Chimes

Beautiful weddings are remembered forever. A day that family and friends gather to celebrate the marriage of loved ones. It is day when blessed vows are taken, tears are shed, smiles are many, and two people begin a new life together. So planning a wedding is truly a labor of love. Every detail from the dress to the flowers, from the colors to the menu, from the guests to the wedding party, from the altar to the honey moon, takes special care and attention. If you are planning a wedding, I suggest that you consider orchestrating with melodious hand-tuned wind chimes.

Hand tuned wind chimes are musical instruments and are available in several sizes ranging from small to large wind carillons. Distinctive tunings of the chimes will even harmonize with each other when hung in pairs or sets. From the smallest Petite Classic Wind Chimes to the glorious Wind Carillons, all are exceptionally resonant and pleasant so you will never tire of hearing them. In addition, the wind rarely if ever plays the same song twice, so the tunes are ever changing. They make lovely, soft wedding bells wafting gentle melodies through the wind.

If you are planning an outdoor wedding, wind chimes offer that extra special touch to the day. They can be displayed on decks, trees, poles, arbors and any number of scenic set designs. Wind chimes will welcome guests for your indoor wedding. Hang them on the entry path and you’ll make a big hit. It is easy to be creative with wind chimes. Once you know where your ceremony will be and how it will be arranged just decide how you could best show off the new orchestra of chimes.

If you want to do something really special, have the chimes engraved. Choose a small picture and an inscription to have engraved on the plate. Maybe you have a special symbol like a rose, a dove or wedding bells. It is even possible to create your own symbol to have engraved. Then include your name and the date of your wedding. What a great gift for family, bridesmaids, best men, and friends. They will have a beautiful gift to remind them of your wedding every time a breeze sends the melody through the air.

Have a marvelous wedding and always remember that love is in the air.

Flags and Banners for Home and Garden Décor

Have you ever wanted to add creative elegance to your porch, garden, deck or wall? Decorative flags may be just the right ingredient for that special finishing touch. A friend of mine has a home with a tall wooden fence next to the garden path. She hung large rainbow flags from the top of the fence. The result was absolutely stunning. The sky is the limit when it comes to decorating with flags. Today designers have created flags that are beautiful works of art. There are colors, themes and sizes that will enhance any area of your home. For those of you who have an entry porch that would benefit from an uplifting splash of color a flag may be just the ticket for you. If you have a wall that is boring, then consider hanging a banner to cheer it up. It is easy to be creative when decorating with flags. Whether you choose to be flashy or understated you will find the flag fits the bill.

Flags are available in themes for the country home, the traditional home, the contemporary home, the desert home, the log home and the sea side cottage. There are even gorgeous flags that render a touch of Asian inspiration. I personally love the Native American designs that are bright and bold. For those of you who love animals, it is really a banquet of delight. You will be amazed at the fantastic designs that feature cats, dogs, horses, cows, rooster, penguins, polar bears, moose, wolves, geese, sheep, pigs and even flamingos. If you live near the ocean, you might be interested in a lighthouse flag, a boat flag or a flag that paints a picture of marine life. I know of a couple who even flew flamingo flags from the bow of their boat. So whether you are decorating a home, an office, a garden or a barn there is a flag that will meet your needs.

Are you planning a party? Consider a flag to welcome your guests. You will be happy to know that flags are available for graduations, birthdays, retirements, weddings and every holiday that we celebrate throughout the year. Flags will add a touch of cheer to any celebration.

You will find flags for every season of the years. Harvest moons, snow capped mountains, spring and sunny beaches are all common flag themes. Fall, winter, spring and summer have not been left out of the equation. Dancing leaves, daffodils, bluebirds, budding iris and colorful ladybugs are just a few of the treasures to be discovered. So you will be able to have fun all year round.

So go ahead and express yourself, be creative and have fun with flags.

Will of the Wind carries a full line of garden flags, decorative flags, holiday flags, designer banners and appliqued house flags.

Decorating with Kites

Want to add a special touch to a room in your home? Maybe you are planning an event, setting up a display for a school or a library or just have the urge to do something new. How about expressing your creative aspirations with kites? The kite has become a respectable new member in the world of design. Kites have been used to decorate homes, doctor offices, clinics, libraries, classrooms, aquariums, lobbies, and a whole host of events.

In several healing centers kites have been used to brighten up the space for the patients. This year students and faculty at San Diego State University created the "Visual Therapy Sky Mural". Student Lauren Holland spent long hours in the SDSU Fitness Clinic receiving therapy. The room was so dull and uninviting that Lauren dreamed of creating something wonderful for future patients to be surrounded by. The idea for the "Visual Therapy Sky Mural" began to blossom in her mind.

The Faculty/Student Mentoring Program in the College of Arts and letters took the project on. Professor Iisdro D. Ortiz Ph.D. helped to raise funds and a whole host of volunteers joined in to help with the project. The "Visual Therapy Sky Mural" is a child's dreamscape of a Pacific sky and sandy beach that runs the length of the 26-foot ceiling and continues onto the side wall. The ceiling is adorned with a beautiful arrangement of butterfly kites, ship kites and airplane kites that complement the mural. The results are stunning.

School teacher and librarians are using kites for special projects and displays. This year insects, butterflies and birds have been big hits. The kites make teaching and learning fun.

Aquariums use a variety of fish kites to highlight their themes. Imagine numerous Angel Fish Kites, Orca Whale Kites, Dolphin Kites, and even Octopus Kites decorating a major aquarium lobby. It really is impressive.

Grocery stores have even used kites as decoration. Hand painted Bali Butterfly Kites are stunning when used as wall art. Customers love to have the added touch of color during their shopping experience. The Bali Butterfly kites are available in several colors and the wing spans up to seven feet.

Are you planning a birthday party for a child? Little boys are wild about the pirate ship kite, the F-16 kite, the Red Baron kite and the ever popular Kitty Hawk kite. When the party is over, use the kite to decorate their room. You will be a hit for years to come. Miniature kites make great favors for kids of any age and make for wonderful entertainment.

If you are decorating your home, office, school or event, be sure to explore the possibility of using kites as art.

Weathervanes as Décor and Art

Weathervanes have been valued throughout history. They rest admirably atop churches, barns, homes, schools, libraries, court houses, and government buildings. We are all familiar with the ever popular rooster perched handsomely on barn cupolas or the gallant horse adorning the tops of stables across America. The Federal Eagle has been popular since the 1800’s. Artisans have crafted beautiful weathervanes using themes that capture the spirit from antiquity up until today. In our modern day and age the weathervane is being recognized as décor and functional art. It doesn’t matter if the weathervane sculpture is contemporary, traditional, country, or classic, there is a place for the piece in the world of design. It is still popular to mount weathervanes on cupolas and rooftops but the possibilities for display have introduced weathervane sculpture to a whole new realm of aesthetics. Weathervanes can be displayed indoors in a number of different ways. Floor stands are available in basic cast iron or ornamental brass. These display bases are often used to feature a weathervane in living rooms, dens, offices or libraries. The presentation is simply stunning. Indoor wall mounts are an attractive way to showcase the work on a central wall or beam. Tabletop weathervanes are great for desks and tables. They make great gifts too! If you are interested in interior decorating, consider the time honored weathervane in your design. The options for outdoor display are wonderful. It is possible to mount your weathervane on the deck or on a garden pole. Eave mounts offer the possibility of placing your weathervane on the side of a building. The results are stunning and will capture the attention of your friends and neighbors. In addition to a generous variety of mounting options, the weathervane is now available in several finishes. The traditional polished copper is still a favorite but it is not the only choice. Some of the most popular finishes include antique, blue verde, chestnut, and bronze. There is a patina for just about everybody. The available styles are impressive and cover just about every subject. The palette includes locomotives, golfers, dogs, wine, flying pigs, unicorns, fairies, angels, flags, ships, airplanes, birds and even a wine weathervane. Clubs and restaurants are ideal for weathervane art. It is common to see the golfer, the blue heron, the whale, or the eagle displayed in a public setting. Most of the designs are available in sizes that accommodate smaller buildings such as garden houses, gazebos, and decks. Whether you are an interior decorator, a landscape architect, or a do it your self designer, there is a weathervane that is perfect for your décor.
